If it's 'é', then ISO-8859-14 or 15, or windows 1252 have it. The problem is how the game read the code-page.

For me, I open it with DOS/OS2-850 it's a much older code, should include a lot of Western European characters

Please select "Unicode (UTF-8)".

But it's also about how Capitalism program read the encoding than the actual dbf's character encoding, right?

I can type in all the Characters in Chinese as I want and showing them in openoffice just fine, but Capitalism would not be able to show them anyway (it would actually crash the game if you attempt to put them in a dbf file)

I put Chinese characters in billionaire list. And it crashes during loading.

It should use UTF-8 encoding right? Or was it has something to do with simplified Chinese or traditional Chinese?

I used Unicode UTF-8 and traditional Chinese and it ran okay.

Perhaps you can send me your Billionaries DBF file and I will test it.

I patched it to 2.6.14 and repack it again, and it doesn't crash anymore. Something updated in the latest patch?
