Guide about translating Capitalism Lab in-game text

Post by David »

For those of you who are interested in doing the translation on your own, we have just published a new guide about translating Capitalism Lab in-game text on the official Capitalism Lab web site.

You may read it at: https://www.capitalismlab.com/resources ... game-text/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New versions of Capitalism Lab may have updated versions of the following files, which may contain new or modified translation text.

-gm_help.txt
-help.txt
-t_game.txt

You may use WinMerge to merge the old version and the new version of the translation text files, and merge them so that your translation files will contain the latest translation text.

WinMerge can be downloaded for free at: http://winmerge.org/?lang=en

For those who want to start translating in a new language, this translate.txt might help. It's a list including all the lines already used today in the available languages published on the official site.

One might like to start translating from scratch though, since some of the lines are incorrectly spelled or have become useless. Anyhow it might also be a great tool to enlarge and enhance existing translations.

Hello. I know it's been a long time since this has been used, but I think the following will be useful.

To translate the game, I'm using "OmegaT" software.

It takes a little time to learn, but once you get used to it, it helps a lot.

Just update the files -gm_help.txt
-help.txt
-t_game.txt

that serve as a basis for the translation and only the lines that have been updated need to be updated with GitHub Desktop

In addition, this allows you to keep the original sentences and files, which makes it possible to go back to problem sentences rather easily.

Also, for translation, we can take advantage of a free month at deepL plus to be able to translate within the software itself, which makes it easier.

And little "bonus": it's possible to collaborate with several people at the same time thanks to a deposit on GitHub.

By the way, it's very easy to update thanks to https://desktop.github.com/.

For more details about the implementation, you can see the https://github.com/inrepublica/Capitalism_Lab_ENG_to_FR repository.
