Transferring saved games to a newer version

I've got some saved games on Version 6.6.20 that I'd like to transfer to Version 6.8.03 Beta. Is there some way to do it? I tried pasting some files in Save folders, but it didn't work. I'd appreciate any help. I'm a perpetual newbie, so please be very simple and basic. Sorry if this has already been answered, but I have a hard time coping with forums, along with everything else on computers and the internet.

Please be informed that save games between major versions are not compatible. (e.g. v6.6.x is not compatible with v6.8.x)
