Ive mentioned I'm afraid of expanded finances in the game because of manipulating the money markets can easily make running industrial firms moot. But, not having great expertise in either macroeconomics or finance, well, often I cannot explain what I mean, nor can I be certain to what extent I understand the implications things like minting trillion dollar coins to pay off the national debt:

One idea for the CapLab city simulation enhancement expansion is to let the city takes loans and issues bonds to improve the city's infrastructures and build new community buildings.
Some cities may run a deficit with their budgets and end up having to deal with the tough choices of whether to cut expenditures or further expanding the balance sheet by borrowing even more.
