FIRMTYPEs in buildings.dbf

Hi,

@David/anyone else who knows:

Can we get a complete list of FIRMTYPEs that are valid in buildings.dbf?

I've tried a bunch out and had some hits and misses.

Good ones:
  • RETAIL
    FACTORY
    FARM
    APARTMEN
    COMMERCI
    WAREHOUS
    MANSION
    RD
Bad ones:
  • OIL
    MINE (seems to behave oddly with the other natural resources)
    LOG/LOGGING/CAMP/LOG_CAMP (?)
    CIVIC
    SPORTS
    MEDIA
    HEADQUAR

I think the list you posted above is basically right. One thing though: R&D centers are actually moddable.

Hmm~...

I tried to add 'R&D' as a FIRMTYPE, but it doesn't seem to work (it wasn't something just added in the 4.2 beta, was it?)

It does, however, create an awesome effect where the build costs of all the buildings in the menu go spaztastic and flicker like crazy.

I did a test and was able to add a new R&D center to the MOD successfully. Please see the attached screenshot.

Could you post your buildings.dbf entry for that extra R&D firm?

I tried again in the Beta this time, but it gave me 'Error on File : f_medi.cpp Line : 193'.

Mine looks like this. It's just using the TOY sprite.

Please write "RD" instead of "R&D" for the Firmtype field.

I am curious is it possible to MOD firmtypes like HOUSE, PARK, and OTHER?

HOUSE isn't much of an issue, since I can put them in APARTMEN, but parks and trees would be very difficult to fit into any existing working firmtype. (I tried put them into MANSION, but that end up in disaster, not that it doesn't work, just AI persons like to build them in the most inconvenient places, and I can not even move them somewhere else).

We will add parks in the next version 4.2.09, which can be built by the city government.

And you will be able to add new parks in the MOD kit.
