Usually it's better to provide save files, or at least screenshot reporting bugs or providing suggestions. Otherwise it's very difficult to tell exactly what's wrong or understand what you mean.
The suggestion is interesting though. But how much points would the "put out all competitors" condition worth? And there are lots of ways for the "originals" to died out, given the right conditions, they could theoretically go bankrupt on their own without players intervention.
As for the new product icons, I think they looked OK. And you could easily mod them back to the originals.
