New feature: Acquiring a Private Company

You may acquire a private company by clicking the [Acquire Company] button on the Corporate Details report.

Hi David,

How does this affect other stockholders. I may not want to sell my shares in a company if a compute AI buys me, is their any way to stop it ? (Possibly a counter offer ?) or is it as simple as click aquire pay a 50% premium and theirs nothing any one else can do ?

Only independent private companies can be acquired via this function.

When you have a subsidiary private company, it is not independent because it is owned by you and therefore it cannot be acquired via this function.

So there would be no resistance from the private company being bought?

So as long as there's enough capital, the acquisition would always be possible?

Yes, the acquisition prices that the independent companies are asking will be very high. It is not unlike the tech unicorns in the real world (https://www.cbinsights.com/research-unicorn-companies) which can be seen as grossly overvalued by those of us who are not privy to how the Wall Street and the tech sector work.

Im abit confused.

If I own 100% of my main company, is this a "private" company ? Could someone just buy me if they had enough dough ?

OR by private company do you mean one that hasnt IPO`d ?

Cheers

I am curious about this too, will there be a pop-windows show up like when AI try to buy your stocks in other investing stocks? Or player corporation is completely exempted from this mechanism? I don't remember seeing any pop-up windows when AI person asking to buy my own stock in my own company even in older version. (but I usually turned off tender offer, so it's probably not a very accurate assessment)

Only AI private companies are that independent, can be acquired using this function.

David, I believe the question is more can our main company be purchased through this function if it is a private corporation.

I for one usually always start my company off as a private company and then go public at some point in the game to pay off my debts.

No, your main company cannot be purchased through this function even if it is a private corporation.
