Ideas for Tourism DLC:

The customer traffic index can increase to a much larger value thanks to tourists.

An area with a very high average value of customer traffic index will become a shopping district.

The land value of a shipping district area can be extremely high. Shops in a shipping district area will sell tremendous amounts of goods

There will be new types of retail buildings such as upscale department stores.

The consumption by tourists can account for a big percentage of total retail sales, thus increasing the GDP too.

Buildings
You can build cinemas, bowling alley, restaurants in the shopping districts.

Build theme parks and even casinos to attract tourists.

Hotels -hotels for leisure travelers and hotels for business travelers.

The level of simulation details for these buildings will not be too in-depth as the focus of this DLC is not on detailed simulations of individual buildings.

Scenario goals
Transform an area into a shopping district.

Reach x number of tourists each year.

Sale revenue from purchases by tourists reaches $x amount.

Increase the land value of a shopping district to $x amount.

i could see how you could add a tourism demand and hotel demand which correlate in the city screen!

The traffic value is shared by all kinds of shops, thus this increase from tourists would also translate to selling bread, bath lotions & cars... which I do not think tourists are particularly fond of in vacation areas.
Could this bonus merely be applied to products tourists are interested in? Since traffic seems to be applied to locations, not individual products, maybe restrict this bonuces to new types of shops you wanna introduce?

The expense of lodging, sustenance, visits, entertainment and local travel may also impact tourism demand. If these expenses are high, demand may drop. There are non-value factors that impact tourism demand. The climate of a location is an important factor.
