Implement economic impact of corporate headquarters on city development.

Post by Yimmy »

while reading about future DLCs and features, I thought about the intrinsic value that a corporate HQ provides to the economy of a city. HQs provide increased wealth, population, economic stability and prestige.
Company HQs in caplab are passive additions in cities. ALthough they are used to set up management options for the player, the game doesn't reflect the economic value corporate headquarters have on the political entity where they are located. As a company grows in size it exerts an increased impact. This impact could be incorporated into gameplay via minor bonuses in the city's economic indices (e.g, wage rate, migration/population growth, livability, et al.) Fortune 100/500 companies could provide different impact on the city development.

A large number of corporations in the game would be unwieldy when the game has a small number of cities, so perhaps a small, random selection of corporations would exert the impact. When those selected corporations build their HQ, they activate their impact on city development. As a corporation grows in size, it could develop into a corporate HQ campus exerting an increased impact on wage rate, employment and livability, among others, with varying degrees of impact.
