Capitalism Lab version 12.0 introduces a host of new features, and this newsletter spotlights a selection of them.
The Influential 100 Chart now features vivid portraits and brief biographies, transforming each entry from a mere name into a memorable personality. This upgrade adds richer depth and a more immersive feel to your gameplay.
You can now link several media firms to a single built-in advertising unit. After connecting them, simply select any product in your company and use the slider to set its monthly advertising budget.
For instance, imagine your built‑in advertising system is connected to three media firms, each allocating $100,000 per month, giving you a combined monthly pool of $300,000. Setting a product’s advertising budget to 20% would assign it $60,000 of that total.
This update provides a more versatile and powerful advertising system, allowing you to promote your products more effectively.

This version features a redesigned New Game Settings menu that gives the game a more modern look.
This version introduces the "Skip Frames When the Mouse is Idle",
a smart new option that dramatically speeds up simulation runs at maximum
game speed.
Here’s how it works:
When you’re running the game at full speed and your mouse is idle (no
panning or clicking), the game no longer renders every single frame.
Instead, it periodically renders just one frame while skipping several in
between. This cuts down the video processing workload and lets the
simulation fly through in-game years much quicker.
We ran tests with a demanding setup: 50 companies, 7 cities, 2 in-game
years at max speed. The results speak for themselves:
The Persons – Wealth Report has been expanded with new tabs that display each individual’s assets on separate pages, including Bank Deposits, Stocks, Bonds, and Properties.
The City Economic Simulation DLC is the second expansion for Capitalism
Lab. If you haven’t tried it before, we have prepared an easy-to-read
infogram summarizing its features.
Dual Roles as Tycoon and Politician: Manage your
private corporation while influencing political campaigns to elect a
mayor, then switch to government mode to enact policies and build civic
infrastructure like hospitals, schools, and parks.
Economic Growth and Job Market: Corporate expansion
creates jobs, attracts residents, reduces unemployment, and boosts the
city’s overall economy through realistic simulations of GDP components
(consumption, investment, government spending, and net exports).
Quality of Life Management: Balance civic investments to
improve the Quality of Life index, drawing in more citizens and
businesses, while funding operations via taxes—juggling rates to avoid
avoid curbing business expansion.
Ultra-Realistic Macroeconomics: Experience booms, busts,
inflation, wage fluctuations, and interest rate changes driven by
city-wide economic interactions, creating emergent challenges and
opportunities.
Political and Business Integration: Form and guide
political parties, use influence for business advantages, construct
landmarks, pursue city-specific goals, and tackle new scenarios that test
strategic depth.
Service Industry DLC expands the game by allowing players to build and manage shopping malls, diverse service firms like fast food restaurants and coffee shops, and enhance their supply chains with import, export, and logistics companies. It introduces integrated retail spaces within apartment and commercial buildings, a challenging "Cash-strapped Startup" mode, and six new scenarios to test strategic skills.
Banking and
Finance DLC simulates the financial world with a
level of realism that is unprecedented in video games. You can now
build a business empire on a truly epic scale by extending its reach to
the lucrative banking and insurance
industries. It also greatly expands the types of financial
strategy that you can execute by allowing you to issue and
trade bonds, invest in global stocks, do stock
splits, and pay out special dividends.
