Luxury Goods

Spend your personal fortune on supercars, yachts and private jets — trophies that raise your character’s lifestyle satisfaction, and gifts that win people over.

Luxury Goods let a wealthy character turn cash into lifestyle. You buy famous-brand luxuries with your personal money, display them at your mansion, and enjoy the satisfaction they bring — and you can gift them to other people to build relationships.

How luxury goods work

  • The catalog is organized into categories — such as supercars, yachts and private jets — and each category holds several models at different prices.
  • Every model has a price and a Full Satisfaction value. Satisfaction is simply proportional to price: one point per $1,000,000. A $250,000 watch is worth 0.25; a $10M yacht is worth 10.
  • Some models are Limited Editions — only a fixed number of copies exist in the whole game, so once they sell out they’re gone.
  • Models become available on a release schedule — cheaper models first, pricier ones over the years (see Release schedule).
  • Each category has a gender appeal: some categories appeal more to men, others to women. This matters for how much satisfaction a person gets and for gifting (see Gender appeal).

Luxury goods are a personal pursuit — they feed your character’s Lifestyle Satisfaction, which in turn can raise effective skill. They are not a business: you don’t earn rent or resell them. See the Lifestyle Satisfaction guide for the full picture.

Starting a game with Luxury Goods

On the new-game Billionaire Life setup, the Lifestyle page carries the luxury switches:

Setting What it changes Default
Luxury Goods Turns the whole system on or off. Yes
Luxury Goods Availability How quickly models come to market — All at Start, Gradual (more upfront), or Gradual (less upfront). Gradual (more upfront)
AI Persons’ Interest in Luxury How many wealthy AI characters also collect luxury goods (Very Low → Very High). Moderate

Finding a Luxury Goods Importer

Luxury goods are sold at the Luxury Goods Importer — a building on the map (importers exist from the start of the game). There are two easy ways to get to one:

Way in How
From your mansion Open your mansion’s Luxury Goods List tab and click View Luxury Goods Importer — it jumps you straight to an importer’s screen.
From the mini-map filter Use the firm filter below the mini-map and choose Luxury Goods Importer to locate them on the map, then click one to open it.

You can of course also just click any Luxury Goods Importer building directly on the map.

Buying at the Luxury Goods Importer

Click an importer to open its screen, which has two tabs:

Tab What you do there
Luxury Goods List Browse the catalog: pick a category on the left, then a model from the list.
Luxury Goods Details Inspect one model up close — large image, price, satisfaction, release year, and edition — then Buy it.

The Details page shows everything you need before buying:

Shown here Meaning
Price What the model costs, paid from your personal cash.
Full Satisfaction The satisfaction it gives when brand new (= price ÷ $1M).
Released The year the model became available.
Limited appeal to men / women Appears only when the category is skewed — e.g. “Limited appeal to women (20% appeal).” The percentage is how much of the effect a person of that gender feels.
Limited Edition How many of a limited model remain (or SOLD OUT).

If you already own a model, the page notes that buying another adds no satisfaction — only one copy of a model ever counts (see Satisfaction & decay). Use Previous / Next to page through the catalog, and Buy to purchase into your collection.

Your collection

Open your mansion and you’ll find two luxury tabs alongside the Mansion and Satisfaction tabs:

Tab What it shows
Luxury Goods List Your collection by category, each owned item showing its current / full satisfaction, plus a grand Total Luxury Satisfaction at the bottom. A View Luxury Goods Importer button jumps you to a store to buy more.
Luxury Goods Details One item up close: full and current (decayed) satisfaction, release year, limited-edition status, units owned, and how long you’ve owned it.

Satisfaction & decay

Owning luxury goods raises your Luxury Satisfaction, one of the components of Lifestyle Satisfaction. Three rules shape it:

  • Value = satisfaction. Each model’s full satisfaction is its price ÷ $1M. It’s proportional to price.
  • Novelty fades. Each item’s contribution decays with age from its full value toward a 50% floor, most of the drop happening over the first year. A brand-new item counts fully; a year-old one counts about 68%; a very old one counts half. To keep your total high, keep buying fresh.
  • One per model. Owning a second copy of the same model adds nothing — only a single unit counts, and it’s the oldest copy, so re-buying can’t refresh the decay. To grow satisfaction, buy different models.

The collection screens show each item and the total as current / full, so you can see how much decay has cost you and what buying fresh could recover.

Age of an item Fraction of full satisfaction
Brand new 100%
≈ 1 year ≈ 68%
≈ 2 years ≈ 57%
Very old 50% (floor)

Gender appeal

Some categories simply appeal more to one gender. Each category carries a per-gender appeal from 0–100%, where 100% means no penalty at all. When a category is skewed, the item detail shows a line like “Limited appeal to women (20% appeal).”

  • For an owner, appeal scales how much satisfaction that gender draws from the category.
  • For gifting, it scales the attitude gain — giving a superbike to a woman who dislikes them lands at a fraction of its effect (see below).

Gifting luxury goods

You can give an item from your collection to a person as a gift — a way to win people over. On your mansion’s Luxury Goods List or Luxury Goods Details tab, select an item and click Gift to a Person, then pick a recipient.

  • The item leaves your collection and enters theirs — no money changes hands (you already paid for it), and it lifts their lifestyle satisfaction as a fresh acquisition.
  • In return, that person’s Attitude Towards You rises. Attitude shapes how people deal with you — how readily they accept a job or a salary, how a chairman treats you — so gifts build ties with people who don’t work for you (a star executive you hope to hire, or a chairman) as well as reward your own staff.

How much attitude you gain

The recipient picker shows a live breakdown for whoever is highlighted, so you can compare people first:

Factor Effect on the gain
Item value Proportional to the item’s price (about +5 attitude per $1M when brand new).
Novelty An item you’ve held a while impresses less — it decays with age just like its satisfaction, down to half. Buy new and gift immediately for full effect.
Gender appeal Scaled by the recipient’s gender appeal for the category — a mismatched gift lands at a fraction.
Already owns it If the recipient already owns that model, the gift is worth only a quarter.

Attitude can’t rise above +100, and the recipient list puts your own and your subsidiaries’ executives at the top (highlighted) so they’re easy to find. Gifting is shared with fine art — see the Fine Art guide for gifting paintings.

Tip: to gift at full strength, buy a new item and give it the same turn — a fresh item impresses most, and there’s no benefit to hoarding it first.

Release schedule

Unless you chose All at Start, the catalog unlocks over time. Within each category the cheaper models release first and the pricier flagships arrive gradually over the years. The Released year on each detail page tells you when a model became (or becomes) available. Gradual (less upfront) holds more of the catalog back for later than Gradual (more upfront).

Frequently asked questions

Does owning luxury goods make money?

No — they’re a personal indulgence, not a business. Their only payoff is Lifestyle Satisfaction (which can raise effective skill) and their use as gifts. You can’t resell them.

My total satisfaction keeps slipping. Why?

Because each item’s contribution decays with age toward a 50% floor. To hold a high total you keep buying fresh, different models — a second copy of something you own adds nothing.

I bought two of the same model — where’s the extra satisfaction?

Only one copy of any model ever counts, and it’s the oldest one. Spend on variety instead.

Why is my gift worth so little to this person?

Check the breakdown in the recipient picker: an item you’ve owned a while, a gender-mismatched category, or a model the person already owns all cut the gain. A brand-new item in a category their gender likes, to someone who doesn’t own it, gives the most.

Quick tips

Buy variety, not copiesOnly one unit of each model counts — a diverse collection beats duplicates.
Price is neutralSatisfaction is price ÷ $1M at every price — a $10M yacht equals five different $2M cars.
Keep it freshEvery item fades toward half over about a year — keep adding new models to hold your total up.
Gift while newGive a just-bought item for the biggest attitude gain; novelty decays the same way satisfaction does.
Mind the gender fitGift categories the recipient’s gender actually likes — a mismatch lands at a fraction.
Chase limited editionsLimited models are gone once they sell out — grab a flagship before rivals do.
