Billionaire Life DLC

Running Multiple Companies

Own a group of companies — and hold the CEO chair of several of them at once. The Elon-Musk-style business empire.

Instead of building a single corporation, you can own a group of companies and even hold the CEO chair of several companies at once, heading your whole empire personally.

Requires the Billionaire Life DLC. The CEO of Multiple Companies option only appears when this DLC is enabled, and owning subsidiaries in the first place uses the Subsidiary DLC.

The benefits of being CEO of multiple companies

Benefit Detail
Your skill runs the company The company is managed using your (usually high) executive skill instead of a hired CEO’s.
No CEO salary You don’t pay yourself a salary, so the company saves the cost of a hired CEO.
It’s truly yours You are shown as the company’s chairman and CEO — the whole empire is headed by you.

Two ways to become CEO of multiple companies

1. Appoint yourself CEO of a company you control

  1. Open the Corporate Details page of a subsidiary you control (one where you are not already the CEO).
  2. Click Appoint Myself CEO.

2. Set up a new company

Founding a company from scratch is the other way to grow the group you head — alongside buying control of existing ones. It’s also how you get back in the game if you ever end up company-less, after a takeover, a bankruptcy, or resigning as CEO.

Where: open the Financial Actions report and select Set Up a New Company. With CEO of Multiple Companies enabled this entry is available even while you already own a company — it’s the only entry when you have none.

On the page, choose the new company’s corporate color and logo, its name, and its initial capital — how much of your personal cash to invest. Then click Set Up A New Company Now.

Point Detail
Minimum capital Because you’ll normally be founding this one while still controlling a company, expect the full $20M minimum (scaled by accumulated inflation) — the same requirement as setting up a subsidiary. The reduced $1M minimum (also inflation-scaled) applies only when you hold a controlling stake in no company at all, so that a wiped-out player can always re-enter the game cheaply.
Funded by you The capital comes from your personal cash, not from any company’s treasury — so a new company never drains one you already run.
You own 100% It’s a private company you own outright — no outside shareholders and no takeover risk until you take it public.
Not a subsidiary This creates a separate top-level company, not a subsidiary of an existing one. Use Set Up a New Subsidiary Company if you want it held beneath a parent instead.
You head it You start as its chairman and CEO, which counts as one of the CEO seats you hold under CEO of Multiple Companies.

Stepping back down

If you’d rather a hired executive run it again, open that company’s Corporate Details and click Resign as CEO. A suitable CEO is found and installed automatically, and you keep ownership.
