Suggested Capitalism Lab Tournament Rules (Two Rounds)
The rules outlined below serve as a guide for schools looking to organize Capitalism Lab Tournaments on their campuses. These suggested regulations are designed to ensure a fair, competitive, and engaging experience for all participants engaging in this dynamic business simulation game.
Tournament Structure
The tournament consists of two rounds: the Online Round and the Final Round.
Online Round
Duration: The Online Round will last for one month or shorter, depending on the targeted audience.
Gameplay: All participants will play a specifically designed challenge game.
Game Duration: The challenge game is set to run for a duration of 30 in-game years.
Scoring: Participants’ game scores and business performance indicators will be automatically uploaded to a cloud server and will be viewable by all participants.
Selection for Final Round: By the end of the Online Round, the top 8 players based on their scores and business performance will be selected for the Final Round.
Final Round
Setting: The Final Round will take place in-person, in a room equipped with computers running the game.
Duration: The Final Round will last for 4 hours.
Prizes: The top 3 winners of the Final Round will receive prizes: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
General Rules
Eligibility: The tournament is open to all who have a valid copy of Capitalism Lab and agree to the terms and conditions of the tournament.
Game Version: All participants must use the specified version of Capitalism Lab as announced for the tournament. No mods or alterations are allowed unless specified by the tournament organizers.
Integrity: Cheating, use of exploits, or any form of unfair advantage is strictly prohibited. Participants found violating this rule will be immediately disqualified.
Starting the Challenge Game: On the challenge game setup screen, participants must select “Use Account Login Name“, as shown below, to have their Capitalism Lab account login names appear in the Tournament rankings.
Selection for Final Round: Only the top 8 players from the Online Round will advance to the Final Round. The selection will be based on the final scores and business performance indicators at the end of the 30 in-game years.
Final Round Participation: Selected finalists must confirm their availability for the Final Round. If a finalist is unable to attend, the next highest-ranked player from the Online Round will be invited.
Prizes: The prizes for the top 3 winners in the Final Round are as follows:
- Gold Prize: Awarded to the 1st place winner.
- Silver Prize: Awarded to the 2nd place winner.
- Bronze Prize: Awarded to the 3rd place winner.
Fair Play: Participants are expected to maintain a spirit of fair play and respect towards other competitors and organizers throughout the tournament.
