Script – Goal Header
Every goal definition opens with one of two section headers:
[MAIN GOAL]
[SUBGOAL]
The one required line
Goal Title=<1 to 35 characters>
Everything below is optional. Define as much or as little as the goal needs.
Text shown to the player
Goal Description=<1 to 500 characters>
Goal Achieved Text=<1 to 500 characters>
Displayed on the goal screen once the player achieves the goal.
Goal Failed Text=<1 to 500 characters>
Displayed on the goal screen if the player fails it.
When the goal becomes available
Goal Available Date=<yyyy-mm-dd>
| Part | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| yyyy | Year | 1995 |
| mm | Month | 03 |
| dd | Day | 08 |
So Goal Available Date=1995-03-08.
Parent Goal=<Goal title of the parent goal>
The goal only becomes available once the named goal has been completed — which is how you chain goals together. A main goal or a subgoal can both depend on another subgoal this way.
The deadline
Two ways to express it:
Number of Game Years=<1 to 1000>
How long the player is given, from when the goal becomes available.
Deadline=<yyyy-mm-dd>
A fixed date — Deadline=2010-03-08.
Set one or the other, not both. If both are present the game uses Deadline and ignores Number of Game Years — silently, so a goal that seems to expire at the wrong time is worth checking for this.
A goal image
Goal Image=<image file name.PNG>
Displayed on the goal report. Three requirements:
- PNG format.
- Stored in the
script\imagessubfolder under the Capitalism Lab folder. - No larger than 390×100.
