Capitalism Lab Taking Business Simulation to a New Frontier
Capitalism Lab

Annual Score Rankings

When a game year ends, Capitalism Lab can show you two rankings in turn. The Wealth and Business Score Rankings line up everyone in the game by their score — your personal wealth, the value of the companies you control, and the industries and products you dominate — and show how much each person gained or lost since last year. The Influential People rankings that follow do the same for influence: political power and philanthropy. In version 12.5 the rankings are part of the base game.

Base game · influence rankings need a DLC. The Wealth and Business Score Rankings appear in every game. The Influential People rankings appear only when the City Economic Simulation DLC (political influence) or the Billionaire Life DLC (philanthropy) is enabled, because without them there is no influence to rank. Before version 12.5 both rankings needed the Billionaire Life DLC.

When the rankings appear

The rankings open on their own at the end of each game year, once the year’s figures are final. The game waits while they are on screen. The wealth rankings come first; press Ok (or Enter or Esc) and the influence rankings follow, if your game has them. Close those too and the game carries on.

If speech is on, an announcer tells you whether your score went up or down over the year.

The Wealth and Business Score Rankings

The top of the window lists everyone in the game, ranked by score. The list opens on your row, which is highlighted.

Column What it shows
Rank The person’s place in the ranking this year.
Name The person, and the company and position they hold, if any (for example CEO & Chairman).
Score Their wealth and business score now.
Last Year Their score at the end of the previous year.
Change How much the score rose or fell over the year.

Click any person in the list to see how their score is made up in the lower half of the window, with their portrait and career on the right:

Part of the score What counts
Personal Wealth The person’s own wealth.
Market Cap of Companies Controlled The value of the companies the person controls.
Dominated Industries The industries their company dominates, listed one by one; each is worth 20 points.
Dominated Products The products their company dominates, listed one by one; each is worth 5 points.

For you, the bottom line also turns the score into Points: your total score multiplied by the game’s difficulty percentage.

The Influential People rankings

The second window ranks people by their Influence Score, again with Last Year and Change columns. Click a person to see what their influence is made of:

Part of the influence score Comes from Needs
Current Political Influence Political offices held now, such as being a city’s mayor. City Economic Simulation DLC
Past Political Influence Political offices held in the past. City Economic Simulation DLC
Philanthropy – Museum Donation Museums the person has founded with donated art. Billionaire Life DLC

The list also includes famous influential people of the real world, with a short biography of each.

Turning the rankings off

The rankings are on by default. If you would rather not see them every year:

  1. Open the Options menu — press O.
  2. Untick Show Annual Score Rankings.

Both windows have a ? button at the bottom-right that reminds you of this. Your score is still worked out every year when the rankings are off, so you can look it up at any time in the Score report.

Use the Change column. A rival whose score jumped this year is growing fast — check which industries or products they have started to dominate, before they take more of yours.
